Using the LIFT text transcoder

What it is

The LIFT transcoder is software that sits on our server and automatically generates a customizable "text-only" view of your website.

Web Services provides LIFT for free to the Urbana-Champaign campus. 

How to use it

In order to use LIFT on your website , you must have a URL that ends in "uiuc.edu".  If your site does not end in uiuc.edu, contact us for help.

Preview

To preview your website through LIFT, paste the link below into a web browser and replace "yoursite.uiuc.edu" below with your department URL.

Add the filter

If you are using Dreamweaver or any other type of templates, server-side includes, library items, etc. you can add LIFT in minutes. Simply paste the code into your templates or individual web pages.

The code must NOT wrap. Again, you must replace "yoursite.uiuc.edu" with your URL.
